Are you working the right ab muscles to stop your back pain? People often talk about a strong core when treating back pain, which is true you do need a strong core. But the problem is most exercises are not working the right core muscles to stop back pain.
Your abdomianls are composed of two different units, the inner unit and the outter unit. The inner unit has deeper muscles which function to stablise the pelvis and the spine. It’s main function is to stabilize the body so that we have a strong foundation to move from. The second unit is known as the outer unit, this is comprised of larger outer muscles that help the body move.
Unfortunately in a lot of people the inner unit doesn’t work correctly. When the person moves activating the outter unit the inner unit doesn’t stablise the spine. This increases the pressure on the spine and pelvis. When this occurs it may cause an unstable pelvis or overloading in the intervertebral discs.
If you wish to reduce or even stop your back pain you must learn to active your inner unit. To learn more about how to activate your inner unit to reduce, prevent and even stop your back pain , contact Simon to discuss your options.
